A great flying dress gallery is mostly decided before you arrive: the season, the
time of day, the location and the colour of the dress. Get those four right and
the shoot itself is the easy part. This guide walks through planning a
[flying dress photoshoot in Dubai](/flying-dress-photoshoot-dubai) step by step,
from the first idea to the day your photos arrive.

## Step 1: Pick your season and time of day

Dubai's outdoor season runs roughly **October to April**. It is the most
comfortable time for an outdoor shoot and the busiest, so popular sunrise slots
fill early. In the summer months we still shoot, but we start very early, when
the light is warm and the locations are quiet.

Whatever the month, plan around **golden hour**. Sunrise gives soft light and
empty locations; late afternoon works beautifully in the cooler months. Midday
light is harsh and hot, so we avoid it for outdoor shoots. Our guide to the
[best time of year for a Dubai photoshoot](/blog/best-time-of-year-dubai-photoshoot)
goes into more detail.

**If you are visiting:** book for early in your trip. It leaves room to move the
shoot if your plans or the weather change, and rescheduling is free up to seven
days before the shoot, subject to availability.

## Step 2: Choose the setting

The setting shapes the whole gallery, so decide it before the dress.

- **Desert** — open dunes and the biggest, most dramatic flight. Transport is
included, and the trip adds roughly an hour each way.
- **City** — the Burj Khalifa, Burj Park, Creek Harbour, Wings of Mexico, Meydan
Bridge and Palm Jumeirah. Recognisable Dubai frames, close together.
- **Beach** — sea breeze, soft sand and a relaxed, natural mood.
- **City + Desert** — both in one experience if you cannot choose.

compares every spot, including when each looks its best.

## Step 3: Decide who is in the frame

A flying dress shoot can be solo, a couple, a proposal, a maternity session, a
family or a group of friends. Group size is the biggest factor in the price, so
decide this early. Young children can be added with their own dress. See the
[photoshoot prices](/pricing) for each group size and setting, or read
[what a flying dress photoshoot costs](/blog/dubai-photoshoot-cost) for what
changes the number.

## Step 4: Book and secure the date

Message us on WhatsApp or [build your shoot](/book) online to pick the
experience, location and date. A 25% deposit secures the booking, and the balance
is paid on the day by cash or card. Book further ahead for the cooler months and
for sunrise slots.

## Step 5: Choose your dress and colour

Pick a dress from our collection of more than fifty styles — including versions
with sleeves — in sizes from S to XL, with some styles up to 3XL. Match the colour
to your setting:

- **Desert:** bold, saturated colours — red, royal blue, fuchsia, emerald, gold.
- **City:** red, white and metallics stand out against glass and steel.
- **Beach:** pastels, white and soft pinks for a romantic look.

Browse the full [dress collection](/dresses), and if you are unsure, ask us. We
will suggest colours that work for your location.

## Step 6: Get ready for the day

- **Hair and makeup:** arrive with both done. Makeup is available as an add-on if
you would rather we arrange it.
- **Hair style:** expect a breeze. Loose waves or a sleek style hold up best.
- **Footwear:** barefoot or flat sandals on sand; heels sink.
- **Bring:** a light wrap for early mornings and water for the desert.
- **Timing:** there is a 15-minute grace period, so leave room for traffic,
especially for sunrise starts.

## Step 7: Enjoy the shoot

You do not need any modelling experience. The photographer directs every pose,
angle and expression, and the assistant throws the dress so the fabric flies at
exactly the right moment. A session takes about an hour. Read
[how a flying dress photoshoot works](/blog/flying-dress-photoshoot-how-it-works)
for a beat-by-beat walkthrough.

## Step 8: After the shoot

You receive every photo and video from the session. An initial selection arrives
within 48 hours, and your favourites are professionally edited: typically seven
to ten working days for solo and duo shoots, and fifteen to twenty working days
for groups. Express delivery is available as an add-on.

## Common planning mistakes

- **Booking midday to save an early start.** The light is harsh and the heat is
hard on everyone. Golden hour is worth the alarm.
- **Choosing the dress before the setting.** A colour that glows in the desert can
disappear against a busy garden. Pick the backdrop first.
- **Leaving the shoot to the last day of a trip.** If anything changes, there is no
room to reschedule.
- **Heels on sand.** They sink, and they show in the photos. Go barefoot or wear
flat sandals.
- **Underestimating travel to the desert.** Allow roughly an hour each way; transport
is included, but the time still counts in your day.

## Your planning checklist

1. Season and time of day chosen (golden hour).
2. Setting chosen: desert, city, beach or both.
3. Group size decided and price checked.
4. Date booked with a 25% deposit.
5. Dress and colour chosen to suit the setting.
6. Hair, makeup, footwear and a wrap sorted.
